The Official Plane Of PM Modi Will Have These 7 Cool Features

According to Union Budget, PM Modi will soon be having his own aircraft from Boeing with similar features that can be seen on the US Air Force One.

If you didn’t know, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as well as other high-level dignitaries, travel aboard on their own aircraft with their own team of support staff, security personnel, and pilots. Normally, the plane is borrowed from Air India. However, that might change soon.

According to Union Budget, PM Modi will soon be having his own aircraft from Boeing with similar features that can be seen on the US Air Force One.

The orders have been made for the Boeing 777-300ER which is the most successful line-up of the airplane maker. Earlier, the Prime Minister traveled in a Boeing 747 from Air India, often known as the queen of the sky, and a dated Boeing 737 from Alliance Airlines. The new aircraft will have the same cool tech that the US AirForce One has. Here are 7 of them.

Infrared Missile Trackers And Jammers

The 777 will have top-notch defense systems including a LAIRCM (Large Aircraft Infrared Countermeasures) and SPS (Self-Protection Suite).

At a whopping price of Rs 8,458 crores, only the VVIPs will be flying on these aircraft. The 777 will have top-notch defense systems including a LAIRCM (Large Aircraft Infrared Countermeasures) and SPS (Self-Protection Suite) developed under the direction of the US Defence Security Cooperation Agency. The price for the systems is said to be $190 million.

LAIRCM is equipped with a missile warning sensor that can detect from afar if there is a missile targeted the aircraft. It also has a laser transmitter assembly and a control interface unit to tactfully jam infrared missiles.

VIP Suites

Space normally reserved for seats is used as VIP enclosures/rooms for the dignitaries.

The 777-300ER from commercial airliners like Emirates and Etihad have first-class cabins and suits. It will be slightly different for the Indian AirForce One. Space normally reserved for seats is used as VIP enclosures/rooms for the dignitaries.

Jayant Sinha, the former junior aviation minister said that the cabin reconfiguration was estimated to cost $132 million for both the aircraft as opposed to the initial estimates of around $180 million.

Even though when compared to the 747, the 777-300ER is a little bit smaller, it is equipped with a series of new tech for smoother and safer flights. The aircraft has new engines from GE that are more fuel-efficient and faster, suitable for non-stop long-haul flights. The estimated cost of these engines back in 2011 was around $110 million. According to Boeing, the list price for its 777-300ER is $375.5 million.

The aircraft is being customized at Boeing's Dallas facility. And by the middle of the year, the two aircraft will be ready for delivery.
