On September 3, hackers attacked the Twitter account of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Called “John Wick,” the group posted a series of tweets to ask 2.5 million followers of the Prime Minister to donate to the National Relief Fund using cryptocurrency.
By now, the tweets have already been removed. According to Twitter, it will investigate the matter.

The Twitter account used by the Indian Prime Minister has now been restored.
The hacking comes two months after hackers attacked 130 high-profile users’ Twitter accounts including former U.S. President Barack Obama, U.S. Presidential candidate Joe Biden, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, Space X, and Tesla CEO Elon Musk in July. The hackers also asked for cryptocurrency donations.
These profiles were hacked using the internal systems of Twitter. But Twitter claims that Modi’s account hacking isn’t related to the July incident.

The hackers hacked the Prime Minister’s Twitter account under the code name John Wick, a character played by Keanu Reeves. The hacking happened on September 2, which is also the birthday of the actor.
On August 30, Cyble, a cybersecurity firm stated that the group of hackers was responsible for Paytm Mall’s data breach. However, via the Twitter account of PM Modi, John Wick clarified the statement, saying they didn’t hack Paytm Mall.
