72 Families Quarantined After Pizza Delivery Guy Infected With COVID-19 In South Delhi

A pizza delivery guy has tested positive for COVID-19, leading to 72 families living in South Delhi requested to be under self-quarantine.

In what seems to be a nightmare, a pizza delivery guy has tested positive for COVID-19. After tracking where he has been to, 72 families living in South Delhi have been requested to be under self-quarantine.

BM Mishra, District Magistrate, said that the delivery boy worked at a famous pizza chain in the Malviya Nagar area. Right after that, his 16 colleagues were quarantined at the outlet. The authority then carried out a detailed investigation to find where the outlet had delivered food to.

Mishra also added that people didn’t have to be panic as all the delivery boys were using masks as well as following safety measures while delivering food to the customers. Asking the 72 families to self-quarantine was a precaution measure.

The delivery boy has been admitted to a hospital to receive treatment while those who had direct contact with him are being monitored daily.

Following the incident, the restaurant has suspended its operations. Some of the orders were made from Zomato. The pizza boy’s colleagues got negative results after being tested.

The incident has raised a debate on ordering food amid a global pandemic as some say that it could put people at risk of getting infected with the coronavirus.

Food delivery services like Swiggy and Zomato are trying to reduce the risk of their delivery personnel getting the virus. Zomato has started displayed on the app the delivery guy’s body temperature while Swiggy has added a new option for no-contact delivery to follow the social distancing policy.
