As the environment is becoming more and more polluted, many countries are urging their citizens to shift to using electric vehicles. However, compared to traditional gasoline-powered vehicles, the prices of electric vehicles are a lot higher. But no worries as Citroën, a French automaker just unveiled its new EV called Ami, which might possibly be the cheapest and smallest EV ever.
The tiny EV can accommodate two people. It actually looks like a fancy scooter with a roof that is made specifically for city transportation. And guess what, if you are 14 years old and you are living in France, you don’t need to have a driver’s license to drive this car. For people who live in other European countries, they need to be at least 16 years old.
The car comes with a 5.5 kWh li-ion battery that can be charged using a standard 220w power outlet. For a full charge, it needs around three hours. It can reach a speed of 45 kilometers per hour and a range of 70 kilometers.
The tiny EV is perfect for people living in cities as it can easily go through busy streets and narrow gaps. Its roof is transparent, offering a panoramic view. You can manually tilt the side windows to open them up.
For pricing, a one-time payment will cost you around $6,590. But you also pay an around $2,900 as an initial payment and then pay $22 a month in two years. The car is also available for rent via Free2Move, a car-sharing service for around 29 cents for 1 minute.
Consumers can make orders from March 30, but only in France.
