People are furious after reading the news about the tragic death of a 15-year-old pregnant elephant in Kerala. The poor animal died after eating pineapple stuffed with firecrackers.
Now, the Kerala Forest Department has officially launched a manhunt for the mastermind behind this horrendous event. The elephant died because of injuries caused by firecrackers that were hidden in a pineapple.
This was a serious and inhumane crime whosever planned it. On May 23rd, the body of the animal was found near a water source that is outside the National Park.
Some people had stuffed a pineapple with firecrackers and fed this to the wild animal. When the elephant started chewing the pineapple, the crackers inside exploded, injured and later killed the animal.
Samuel Pachuau from the Wildlife Warden of the Silent Valley National Park after the death of the elephant, a veterinarian was summoned. On the 25th, David Abraham, an elephant expert came and examined the animal.
Abraham said that the wound was from about two weeks ago as there were worms inside.
The Forest officials were informed of how bad the wound was. Two days later, they found the body of the elephant in the water. A post-mortem was carried out, through which they found an old fetus that was about two months old.
The autopsy suggested that the firecrackers had badly damaged the elephant’s teeth, upper and lower jaw, and tongue.
The pregnant elephant stood in a pond for several days, suffering from immense pain.
