Since the appearance of Reliance Jio brought a great change to the mobile Internet, India still witnesses the steady growth in Internet users.
Because the Internet service in India is cheaper than that in other countries, there are more new Internet users, which could reach the mark of a billion people using the Internet in just a few years.

As per the McKinsey Global Institute’s new data, the number of Internet users in India could increase by around 40% in the following few years. In addition, the data also shows that India could have 750-800 mil Internet users on the mobile platform by 2023.
One of the factors contributing to the growth of Internet users is the increasing number of smartphones in India which, in that time, would double to around 700 million devices. Additionally, according to the report, core digital segments will double to about US$355-436 billion in the following 7 years.
With the appearance of Reliance Jio, the average mobile consumption per Indian has increased by around 150%. The cause may be due to the fact that India has cheaper mobile Internet fee, so more people are buying and consuming more data.

By 2019, India has 560 million Internet users, ranking the second only after China.
At present, each person in India uses around 8.3GB data per month, which is higher than the average data of 5.5GB that each Chinese person uses on their handsets per month. In addition, India also has an increasing number of app downloads in 2018, which is around 12.3 billion downloads.
Besides, the report suggests that each person in India spends around 17 hours per week on social media sites, which is much more than that in China and the U.S. Indians use the Internet not only to entertain but also for other important stuff. It is known that the number of people in India with a minimum of one financial account with Internet Banking service has reached 80% in the last 8 years.
In addition, the report also reveals that India can even grow more and more. Apparently, cash is still a popular payment method, which accounts for around 90% of the total retail transactions in this country. This means there are a lot of growth potentials for online transactions as people begin to run all their errands online.
