With COVID-19 spreading wide and taking lives, several places around the world are in lockdowns to limit the virus from spreading wider. At the same time, people are avoiding traveling, a number of places close too because few or no one is coming. So Google Maps is now letting businesses update their status so that customers can update on changes to their operations or open hours.
Specifically, businesses can update their profiles on Google My business to provide customers with relevant information, according to a post on the support page of Google My Business.
In their profiles, business owners are allowed to edit business hours, update their phone numbers, and update the description of their businesses, including adding extra services, delays or precautions. Google also lets businesses share timely, detailed updates in a post, as stated on the page.
They can also review the changes they make to their profiles before posting it.
In separate news, Google has pulled the official COVID-19 app of the Iranian government. The app, called AC19, was removed from the Google Play Store due to concerns that the app was collecting user location data, not for well-meaning purposes. Not just that, the app could tell if a person was positive with COVID-19, which couldn’t be possible to tell just through a phone app. The developer behind this app was the same company that built two copycat apps of Telegram called HotGram and Gold Telegram.
