Hindu Man Cuts Off His Tongue To Stop The Spread Of COVID-19

A 24-year-old Hindu man was admitted to a hospital after cutting his own tongue as an offering to the deity to stop the COVID-19 pandemic.

Recently, a 24-year-old Hindu man was admitted to a hospital after cutting his own tongue in a religious event to worship the Hindu goddess, Kali Mata, hoping to stop the COVID-19 pandemic.

We have seen all the extreme things that people do stop the spread of the virus, from putting quarantine violators in haunted houses to locking spouses inside the bathroom. But young stone sculptor Vivek Sharma in Suigam, Gujarat, takes things to a whole new level.

Because of the nationwide lockdown, he couldn’t return to Madhya Pradesh, his hometown. Feeling frustrated, the guy went to a temple and cut off his own tongue and offered it to the Hindu goddess Kali Mata. However, his sacrifice seemed to backfire.

Vivek was working with eight other stone workers at the Bhavani Mata temple, Suigam. Last week, during a break, he told his colleagues that he would make a trip to the market. No one thought much about this but Vivek didn’t return. So they tried calling him and they were surprised when a stranger picked up the phone. They were told that Vivek had been taken to a hospital after people found him lying in a nearby temple, unconscious, with his tongue chopped off.

The doctors at the hospital carried out a surgery to reattach his tongue. However, it remains unknown whether the operation was successful and whether the guy will be able to speak again.

One of the guy’s co-workers said that Sharma is a devotee of the Hindu Goddess Kali Mata. And for a while, he had been chanting the name of the deity.

For the past few days, he wanted to come back to his hometown. However, the lockdown made it impossible, leading to his reckless act.
