With the outbreak of Coronavirus, people are rushing to find N95 face masks and hand sanitizers, leading to a shortage in the market. As a result, the prices of the products have skyrocketed. People are having to pay a huge outrageous amount of money for a basic mask or a bottle of sanitizer. But people have no option as most of them believe that these are guaranteed protection against Covid-19.
But doctors have suggested that not all people have to wear face masks to protect themselves. People need to stop stocking these products as only those who are infected need to use them.
US Surgeon General, Jerome M. Adams, posted on his Twitter telling people to stop buy masks.
These masks aren’t effective in preventing people from catching Coronavirus. But if there aren’t enough masks for sick patients, it will put them and the communities at risk.
To be safe from the disease, one can follow the most basic precautions. If you are sick, stay at home, wash your hands with water and soap. This will help prevent the spread of the virus.
The executive director of the World Health Organization’s health emergency program, Dr. Michael J. Ryan, said that a mask couldn’t fully protect a person from being infected. Instead, the most important thing a person needs to do is wash their hands and not touch their faces.
Infected people should be the ones to wear masks as they will stop the virus from spreading. So, if you are a healthy person, don’t panic if face masks are out of stock. Just wash your hands regularly and maintain hygiene.
