India now has 43 confirmed cases of Coronavirus with 0 death. Among them, 16 are Italian tourists. In fear of the virus, people are becoming panic, trying to stock hand sanitizers and face masks.
The demand for N95 masks in Delhi-NCR often increases during the wintertime when the air quality turns worse. But now, people have been flocking to buy face masks for the last few days.
Masks are out of stock in several drug stores around the region. People who couldn’t buy masks are using handkerchiefs to cover their faces and refrain from crowded places.

Many have complained that drug stores had hiked up the prices of these masks. The prices of the masks are now two times higher than their regular prices. According to the traders, people becoming panic is the reason leading to this high demand for face masks.
The regular price for an N95 mask used to be Rs 50 to Rs 60. But now, a consumer has to pay Rs 280 to Rs 300 for one mask.

The traders are confident that the masks will be back in stock soon despite the current shortage.
The same thing happens to sanitizers. Hand sanitizers like Dettol and Himalaya couldn’t be found in drug stores. Their prices have also been hiked, just like the face masks.
Not just Delhi-NCR, cities like Hyderabad and Bengaluru where Coronavirus confirmed cases have appeared, have also witnessed a high demand for face masks and hand sanitizers.
The Central Board of Secondary Education recently announced that students attending the board exams could bring with them face masks and hand sanitizers.

Member of Parliament said that the government had the responsibility to ensure the availability of sanitizers and masks. He recommended that airlines should also supply masks to their flyers.
