The Epic Games Store was about to release several games for free at 11 am (US time). The most notable of these is Grand Theft Auto V, which was said to be one of the free games to be released. But when the clock passed 11 am, the Epic Games Store was closed immediately. The reason is that people simultaneously refreshed the store's website to get this free game.
On Twitter, Epic admitted that its game store had some connectivity issues from 11:05 am (US time) until 12:58 pm.
Earlier, a tweet shared a leak claiming that Grand Theft Auto V would be free to download until May 21.
Not only Epic's game store, but the huge amount of traffic also affects other Epic services. Fortnite's official account on Twitter said they were "investigating issues" encountered on PCs and Macs.
According to the status page for Epic's services, Epic's mobile game Battle Breakers faced similar issues.
