Cheating on partners makes people go to any extent that they could so that they would not be revealed. But even the smartest cheater out there would never expect that a fitness band can expose “illicit” affairs.
Just recently, Jane Slater, an NFL Network reporter told the story of how Fitbit helped her catch her cheating boyfriend.
Slater was quoted, saying that, this ex-boyfriend once bought her a Fitbit as a Christmas gift, which she absolutely loved. The couple synced their devices to motivate each other. It was until one day, he became unavailable at 4 in the morning. Meanwhile, his physical activity level were rising significantly on the app.

For those who don’t know, there is a feature of Fitbit that allows friends to sync their activities and to each other’s activities. For instance, if one of your friends has done a workout, you will receive an alert from your Fitbit saying that you’re lagging behind and encourage you to follow your friend and burn some calories.
For Slater’s case, the problem was that her ex wasn’t a member of any gym or fitness club. So the rise in his activity level, as well as heart rate, especially when it was 4 a.m worried her. She later discovered that he was cheating on her.

Slater said that the breakup wasn’t easy for her. When she figured out her boyfriend’s cheating via the Fitbit clues, the 38-year-old reporter “sobbed uncontrollably” but now she just laughs about it.
