U.S President Donald Trump Tested Positive For COVID-19, Been Given Drug Not Approved By FDA

According to President Donald Trump’s doctor, he is now at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center to be treated for COVID-19. The president has also taken an antiviral drug.

In a memo made public by Kayleigh McEnany – White House press secretary, Navy Cmdr. Dr. Sean Conley – White House physician, Trump was doing very well.

The drug Conley was referring to has shown its effects in shortening the time hospital stay of COVID-19 patients.

The news came after the shocking announcement of President Donald Trump early Friday morning that he and his wife, First Lady Melania Trump, had tested positive for COVID-19.

16 hours after announcing the contraction of the novel Coronavirus, the president emerged for the first time walking toward a helicopter waiting for him under his own power, showing no visible signs of illness.

After arriving at the hospital, Trump posted an 18-second long video to Twitter saying that he was doing very well after his COVID-19 diagnosis.

This positive attitude doesn’t reflect the severity of the situation as the president rarely spent a night at a hospital given the extensive medical facilities at the White House.

According to a person with insight into the matter, Donald Trump was spooked after the diagnosis and after developing symptoms like fever, he became increasingly alarmed.

Several people in contact with the president have been tested positive for COVID-19, including Hope Hicks - his adviser, Bill Stepien - campaign manager, and Kellyanne Conway - former White House counselor.

Fatigue And Trouble Breathing

One of Trump’s advisers said there were reasons for concern regarding his health. The adviser said Trump was very fatigued, tired, and had trouble breathing.

A person familiar with the matter said officials at the White House had serious concerns for the president’s health. One of them told CNN that Trump was fine for now but the situations could change very quickly.

Another source said his condition seemed to be more serious than his wife’s.

However, according to Alyssa Farah - White House spokeswoman, the president was still in charge and there had been no power transfer to Vice President Mike Pence.

On Friday evening, one of White House officials said there was no reason to be alarmed about the president’s health. The official confirmed that Trump was experiencing fatigue but his condition wasn’t deteriorating.

The White House said Donald Trump had been working throughout the day before his transfer to Walter Reed.

According to McEnany, the president would be working from Walter Reed’s presidential offices.

On the other hand, Pence is in good health and working at his Naval Observatory’s residence.

Taking Regeneron Antibody Cocktail

A person familiar with the matter said Trump had a fever on Friday morning however, it’s consistent with the White House’s claim that the president’s symptoms were mild.

In the afternoon of the same day, his physician wrote in a memo that Trump was fatigued but still in good spirits.

Conley wrote that Trump was evaluated by a team of experts and they would make recommendations as to what the next steps are for him and the First Lady.

He said the president had taken a Regeneron polyclonal antibody cocktail, along with melatonin, zinc, famotidine, vitamin D, and aspirin.

According to Dr. Jonathan Reiner, George Washington University’s professor and CNN medical analyst, the decision to give Donald Trump a monoclonal antibody cocktail which is still in the experimental stage showed how concerns the White House is about his health.

Reiner, who treated former Vice President Dick Cheney, said Trump was given a drug that had not been approved by FDA.

The memo said the First Lady experienced only a mild headache and cough and the rest of the family had tested negative.

After news about Trump’s contracting COVID-19 broke out, the U.S’s leadership was thrown into turmoil.

Before news of Trump heading to Walter Reed broke out, Joe Biden - Democratic presidential nominee said negative advertising would be suspended for the time being.
