Daily Media Consumption On Mobile Internet In India Is Expected To Reach 79 Minutes By 2021

The time Indian consumers spend on mobile internet has been more and more increasing. It is expected to be 79 minutes daily by 2021, said Zenith.

Daily media consumption on mobile internet in India will probably reach the highest compared to other mediums. Zenith reports that consumers will allegedly spend 79 minutes per day in the next two years.

The duration Indian users spend on media on mobile devices has risen within the recent six years. While it was just 9.4 minutes a day in 2013, it now increases to 54 minutes in 2019.

In spite of mobile development, television still remains popular in India. The average time Indians spend on television has risen from 2013’s 140 minutes to 2019’s 144 minutes.

He also pointed out the conditions of increasing mobile consumption are the fall of data prices, the increase of mobile penetration in tier 2 and 3 markets, the rapid grơth of vernacular content formats, and availability of fifth-generation networks.

The average time spending on media in India is expected to go up from 2013’s 270 minutes to this year’s 320 daily, said Zenith. It is estimated to be 348 minutes daily by 2021.

The global mobile internet consumption is also pointed out with 800 hours in 2019 which is comparable with 33 full days without pause and sleep. It is expected to be 930 hours meaning 39 days by 2021.

There has been an increase in the amount of time we spend on mobile internet since 2015. It has gone up 50 minutes, from 80 to 130 per day, at an average rate of 13% per year. This is thanks to the popularity of smartphones with a nice price, faster connections, app innovation, and better screens.

Indians are expected to view TV channels in 167 minutes each day this year. The amount of time they spend watching television will fall to 165 minutes daily in 2021.

Nonetheless, it will still be a favorite medium all over the world, making up 33% of 2021’s media consumption while it just hits 35% in 2019.

In 2019, the average time for media is 479 minutes each day globally, which has risen from 420 minutes of the year 2013. It is expected to be 495 minutes each day by 2021.

Zenith noted some fall in time for reading, watching TV and using desktop internet in the period 2014-2019. Time for newspapers has decreased 6 minutes daily, from 17 to 11. Time for magazines has decreased 4 minutes, from 8 minutes daily to 4. Meanwhile, the time for watching TV has decreased 4 minutes, from 171 minutes a day to 167. Time for using desktop internet has decreased 7 minutes each day, from 47 to 40.

Nonetheless, consumers are still keen on cinema and radio. Time for radio listening has risen 2 minutes, from 53 to 55. Time for cinema has risen 1.2 minutes daily, fro, 1.8 to 3, thanks to Chinese cinema boom.
