India is one of the biggest drug manufacturers in the world. Since January 20, the country has sent more than 55 lakh doses of vaccines to its neighboring countries. The only country left that hasn't received the COVID-19 vaccine is Afghanistan. As soon as conditions become more favorable, it will be scheduled to receive the vaccines. Here are some countries where India has supplied COVID-19 vaccines so far.
1. Sri Lanka
Under India’s “Neighbourhood First” policy, the country received 500,000 doses of the Covishield vaccine.
2. Nepal
On January 21, India sent to Nepal over one million doses of COVID-19 vaccine, as part of its “Neighbourhood First” policy.
3. Bangladesh
Under a procurement agreement, Bangladesh received 5 million doses of Covishield vaccines.
4. The Maldives
The Maldives is one of the first countries to receive vaccines from India. India has supplied the country with a medical team, food, medicine as well as training, and financial assistance worth $250 million. 1,00,000 doses of vaccine were sent to the country.
5. Bhutan
On January 20, Bhutan received 1,50,000 doses of the Covishield vaccine.
6. Myanmar
In January, India sent to Myanmar 1.5 million doses of vaccine to inoculate 750,000 people.
7. Seychelles
On January 22, 50,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccines were delivered on the P8I aircraft of the Indian Navy to Seychelles.
8. Brazil
India sent 2 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to Brazil. The country’s president Bolsonaro expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Modi via Twitter.
9. Morocco
On January 22, a Royal Air Maroc delivered a batch of Covishield vaccines to the Moroccan capital Rabat.
10. Mauritius
1,00,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines were dispatched to Mauritius under the “Neighbourhood First” policy of India on January 22.
11. Bahrain
Bahrain was the first Gulf country to receive 1,00,000 doses of vaccines from India.
