Apple Watch Series 4 is one of the products that dominate the wearable device industry. It works stronger, faster, thinner and lighter size than previous generations. Besides, it also has other useful features such as the ability to detect falls and special heart sensor with ECG. According to some leaked information, Apple Watch Series 5 will continue to develop successes of previous generations and add new developments.
Through rumors and patents, Apple Watch fans can expect new features such as new sensors, interactive features, etc. to appear in Series 5.
Apple is no longer announcing the number of retail products they are selling, but AirPods and Apple Watch are the two major and key wearable products of this giant tech company. The success of Series 4 has confirmed Apple's position in medical technology and service business. It can be said Apple Watch will be one of the most anticipated devices this year.
Apple is yet published any information about the official launch date of Series 5, but if based on the product release cycle, we can predict the time it will be released in this year.
Since 2015, every year an Apple Watch is released in the fall. The first model was released a couple of weeks after the iPhone launch in September of 5 years ago. Series 5 is expected to be released later this September along with new iPhones.
Price
We have to wait until Apple announces the release of Series 5 to know the exact cost of this device. Based on the size of each Apple Watch release over generations, we can also predict its price relative.
Apple Watch original was released in 2014 - 2015 with two sizes (38mm and 43mm) for $349 and $399. In 2015, Series 1 was released for $269 and $299. During the next three years, it was released Series 2 ($369 and $399), Series 3 ($329 and $359) and Series 4 ($399 and $429) respectively. Unlike iPhones, the Apple Watch price change is based on advanced features such as ECG and larger, thinner sizes.
If the Series 5 keeps all the parameters and features of Series 4, along with other new features, it may cost more than the Apple last year smartwatch from $20 to $30.
New Features
Based on Apple's patent to the United States Patent and Trademark Officeon March 4, the brand's next-generation Apple Watch will be integrated with artificial intelligence to enhance odor recognition.
This technology is included in the device to detect air pollution and other harmful chemicals in the air. Also, this feature can also be used to identify spoiled food, body odor or sugar levels in the human body through sweat glands. Bringing these features into App Watch will make Apple wearable devices extremely useful and suitable for use for exercise and health monitoring.
Besides, users will be able to control the next generation of Apple smartwatch through navigation gestures instead of scrolling, thanks to some gesture control features of Series 5.
USPTO patents published in January show that Apple applies innovations in new motion sensors to Series 5. Through the use of the Series 4 ECG in combination with sensor accuracy, messages in iMessage can be quickly answered by rolling wrist.
Through patents, the smartwatch can detect blood in the wrist, so users only need to hold the hand for a few seconds to answer the call.
Specifications
Series 5 will be equipped with improvements in graphics and operational power. Apple has always upgraded its smartwatch chipsets each year. Last year, Series 4 chipset was rated to have very high and excellent performance. Shortly, Apple Series 5 will be equipped with a new S5 chip and is expected to be stronger than S4.
Apple is expected to design Series 5 with the variants of 40mm and 44mm. Last year, Apple released four variants with different sizes. It causes a lot of confusion for users because the size options are not necessary.
The face size of Series 5 is expected to remain the same size as the previous version, but OLED displays will be a bit improved. Apple will use Japan Display Inc for its new smartwatch, according to Reuters. Series 4 displays are manufactured by Compal Electronics and Quanta Computer. It's still unclear whether the Series 5 OLED display will be adequately provided by Japan Display Inc or a combination of all three companies.
Series 5 will refine and develop Series 4 features and highlights. It can be said, this year's Apple Watch will be a focused product aimed at tech consumers who seriously care of their health.
