Amid the COVID-19 outbreak, many countries have been put under lockdown. Health experts have recommended that people should maintain personal hygiene and practice social distance to protect themselves against the virus. And it seems like these habits have been adopted in the animal kingdom. Here are just a few examples.
A video of a raccoon washing its hands
One of the best ways to protect ourselves against the virus is by washing our hands. It is advised by health officials that a handwashing session should last for at least 20 seconds.
A lot of videos showing how to correctly wash hands have surfaced online. And Indian Forest Services officer Parveen Kaswan has one such video. But instead of featuring a human being, the video features a raccoon washing its hands.
Mother elephant makes baby elephant wash its feet
Besides the video of the raccoon, there is another video of animals that has become viral on the Internet. In the video, a baby elephant is seen washing its feet. The 30-second video shows how the baby elephant was struggling to use its trunk to clean its feet. And it is adorable.
Peacocks practicing social distancing
Another way to keep people safe during the pandemic is by practicing social distancing. On Twitter, Indian Forest Services officer Parveen Kaswan shared a photo of a group of peacocks. The birds were at a government school in Rajasthan while staying at least 2 meters away from each other.
Twitter users were amazed how amid the lockdown, the peacocks decided to come inside a government school to sit down while still maintaining social distance.
Goats wearing masks

After a tiger in the US zoo became infected with COVID-19, a Kallur Mandal resident in Telangana, Venkateshwara Rao decided to cover his goats with masks to protect them.
He explained that he owned 20 goats and his family was dependent on them.
After he heard about COVID-19, Venkateshwara started wearing face masks himself. And now, every time he goes into the forest area, he will start tying the masks around the goats’ mouths.
