Amid COVID-19 Pandemic, Wild Animals Take Over Cities Just Like In Sci-Fi Movies

As people retreat to their homes to stop the spread of COVID-19, wildlife has once in a lifetime chance to emerge without being frightened by human activities. People from Chile, France, to India have been seeing animals on the streets, which otherwise are teemed with humans.

Here are some examples of animals taking over the human world during lockdown:

In Santiago, Chile’s capital, a puma took advantage of the city’s curfew to wander on deserted streets:

As the U.K is now under lockdown, people’s hedges in North Wales have become the food of mountain goats as they are now gathered on the streets to look for food:

In Barcelona, wild boars which usually live on surrounding hills are spotted on the streets:

When this post first appeared on Twitter, people are informed that the video features an endangered Malabar civet. However, the account behind the lost later corrects the information and said that it was an Indian civet, belonging to a species that is not endangered.
