Realme and Xiaomi are two of the most popular brands in the budget and mid-range segments. Hence, Realme has been trying to release equivalent and competing offerings for phones from its rival Redmi. That is why we only had to wait a short while for the Realme 7 series after the arrival of the Redmi Note 9 series. The thing is the Realme 6 was only launched in March, one month ahead of the Redmi Note 9 series. Let’s take a look at the Realme 7 specifications and see if it is capable of competing against the likes of the Redmi Note 9.
The Realme 7 price in India is Rs. 14,999 for the base 6GB + 64GB option and Rs. 16,999 for the 8GB + 128GB option.

Realme 7 Specifications Review: Design & Display
Every Realme smartphone comes with a new design on its back panel and that is also the case for the Realme 7. It features a mirror-split style, which looks pretty amazing when put under the light. You can get Mist Blue or Mist White color variants, both of which are stunning. In addition to the back design, the camere placement is also slightly different from that of the Realme 6. You can see that the camera housing of the Realme 7 is slightly larger and houses the LED flash, which was placed outside of the housing on the Realme 6.
Overall, this new Realme 7 certainly brings a fresh experience over the Realme 6, which is certainly necessary since this is pretty much the only thing that is significantly changed. You can see that the placement of the fingerprint reader, power button, volume rocker, and ports are still the same. Additionally, the Realme 7 is also heavier (196.5 grams) and thicker (9.4 mm) than the Realme 6 because of the bigger battery. The heavy weight is quite easy to notice, especially when you hold the phone with one hand to text or take a photo.
Realme 7 Specifications Review: Performance
Powering the phone is an Helio G95 SoC, which is quite similar to the MediaTek Helio G90T on the Realme 6. The only difference between the two chipsets is the GPU. Despite having the same Mali G76 GPU, the one on the G95 is clocked at up to 900MHz while the unit on the G90T only has a speed of up to 800MHz. As for performance, we were quite impressed with the gaming capabilities of the Realme 7 as the handset handled Asphalt 9 and Call of Duty: Mobile with ease at medium to high settings. However, if I set the Call of Duty: Mobile graphics settings to Very High, I did notice the fps slow noticeably. Therefore, I would recommend playing those games at medium or high settings only.
On paper, the Helio G95 of the Realme 7 is comparable to Redmi Note 9 Pro’s Snapdragon 720G. In real-world usage, I did experience any stutters or slow-downs while using the 90Hz display. You can further improve the gaming performance with the ‘Game Space’ option. Despite having a carbon fiber cooling system, the handset will still noticeably heat up when playing games or taking photos. However, you won’t see any app behave strangely or randomly shut down when the phone got heated up.
Realme 7 Specifications Review: Cameras
As you may know, Realme 7 is available in the UK and Indian versions. While the UK version only has a 48MP main sensor, the Indian version ships with a 64MP camera. However, having a higher resolution camera doesn’t guarantee a better camera quality.
Fortunately, this time Realme does a decent job. The Realme 7 specifications include a 64MP f/1.8 camera, an 8MP ultra-wide camera with f/2.3 aperture, and two 2MP for macro and portrait shots.
In daylight conditions, the photos look very zingy as the phone boosts and contrast and saturation quite a bit. One good thing is that the photos are still decent for sharing on social media and have acceptable depth. However, if you are a photo enthusiast, you might need to spend some time with Expert mode. Clarity of the photos is on-point and noise appears to be handled quite well.
Night mode is a great help when it comes to low-light photography. You might need to wait 3 to four seconds to take one shot as it requires long exposure to reduce noise. As for the macro camera, it does its job at an acceptable level. Macro shots are only usable and only when it can get enough light. Don’t even think of taking any macro photos at night or low-light conditions.

Realme 7 Specifications Review: Battery
As mentioned, the Realme 7 specifications include a beefy 5,000 mAh battery. It is a significant improvement over the Realme 6 (4,300 mAh). I could easily use the phone for over a day even with heavy usage. In our HD video battery loop test, I performed excellent, lasting more than 24 hours.
Not just that, you can also charge the phone very fast as well. Thanks to the 30W Dart Charge fast charging technology, you can charge the 5,000 mAh battery from 0 to 100 percent in around 65 minutes.
