Vivo has launched finally launched the Vivo Y19 in India. We have got the chance to experience the handset and here is our initial impression.
Box & Design
The box of Vivo Y19 has a pure white background, with its name printed in the center. You can see that this is a 6 GB RAM / 128 GB storage version in the upper right corner.
In addition to the phone, inside of the box of the product includes a quick charger with 9V / 2A output, a micro-USB charging cable, plastic back cover for users to protect the device.
Moving to the Vivo Y19, the device feels quite light when holding it in hand. The back of the Vivo Y19 is made from plastic but looks very glossy with gradient finish. I find this color quite similar to the white version of the Vivo V17 Pro.
The back of the Vivo Y19 is quite sleek, making it feel like this is a glass back.
If you see the device at different angles, there will be a red S-shaped effect in the middle of the back.
The most prominent is the rear camera cluster, adorned with yellow borders.
The highlight is the triple camera cluster located in the upper left corner with yellow borders around. The cameras are stacked vertically with an LED flash at the bottom. Below the camera module is the line 'AI Triple Camera' while the fingerprint sensor is placed in the top center of the rear panel.
The frame of Vivo Y19 is finished from metal in silver color for a luxurious and tough feeling. The corners of the device are curved so we can hold it comfortably.
The bottom of the Vivo Y19 house a micro-USB port, an external speaker, a recording microphone and a headphone jack.
The right side is the power button and the volume rocker
The left side of the device has a SIM tray.
There is nothing at the top of the device.
The overall front design of Vivo Y19 is similar to many Android smartphones today without any breakthrough.
Coming to the front, Vivo Y19 uses the water-drop notch design with a relatively thick bottom chin. The top of the display has a very small speaker strip. In general, the front of Vivo Y19 is similar to many Android smartphones in the same price range.
Hardware configuration
Vivo Y19 uses a 6.53-inch Full-HD+ IPS LCD panel. This screen offers good brightness, sharpness, and color reproduction, but not above other phones in the same segment.
In terms of performance, the device is equipped with an Helio P65 processor combined with 6GB of RAM. With this configuration, you can easily run daily tasks without any issue. However, you might not be pleased with its gaming performance, especially with graphics-demanding games.
And another highlight of Vivo Y19 is its triple camera system, including a 16MP main sensor, a 2MP depth sensor, and an 8MP ultra-wide-angle snapper.
There is a 16 MP selfie camera on the front of the phone with AI support.
Here are some camera samples taken by the device:
In addition, this device also comes pre-installed with Android 9 Pie and FunTouch OS 9.2 user interface on top.
With a massive 5,000 mAh battery, you won’t have to worry about the phone running out of battery in the middle of the day. It can even make it to the second day with basic usage. A plus point is that the device supports fast charging, so it will not take too long to refill its battery.
Verdicts:
Vivo Y19 is a product suitable for those who need a decent smartphone for basic needs and long-lasting battery life. It has a modern, fashionable design, decent hardware configuration for basic tasks, multi-function camera, and 18W fast charging capability.
The drawback of Vivo Y19 is its plastic rear panel, so it will not bring a premium feeling. In addition, the bottom chin is quite thick and it still uses a dated micro-USB port.
