Vivo U10 is a new affordable offering from Vivo. The handset already made its way to India in September this year with a starting price of Rs. 8,999. Let’s take a look at this phone and see whether it’s worth buying.
Box & Design
There is nothing special about the box of the Vivo U10. Inside the box, there is a Vivo U10 smartphone, a clear silicon case, an 18W fast charger, and a micro-USB cable.
Coming to the main part, the Vivo U10's rear panel is made of plastic, but does not give the cheap feeling when holding it in hand.
Overall, the common design language of the phone is quite similar to some Y series smartphones such as Vivo Y15 and Vivo Y17.
The back has a strange effect, in particular, the center area of the rear panel is covered in light blue, naturally surrounded by dark blue. In addition, you can also see different colors when viewing the phone at different angles.
It still has a cluster of 3 cameras placed vertically. The camera module is highlighted with yellow borders. At the bottom of the module, there is an LED flash. Aside from that, the back of the device houses a fingerprint reader and a Vivo logo.
The weight of the smartphone is a little heavy, 190g, with a thickness of 8.92 mm mostly due to the massive 5,000mAh battery.
There is nothing special about the front of the phone. There are a water-drop notch at the top and a speaker strip while it has a relatively thick chin at the bottom.
The bottom of the handset is a micro-USB port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, an external speaker and a microphone.
Its right side houses a power button and the volume rocker.
There is nothing at the top of the handset.
The left side is packed with a SIM tray (supports microSD card with a maximum capacity of 256 GB)
Hardware configuration
The display quality of Vivo U10 is just acceptable.
Vivo U10 has a decently large screen size of 6.35 inches, the resolution is only HD+, in general, the display quality is nothing outstanding, at an acceptable level.
The highlight of Vivo U10 is its good hardware configurations compared to other phones in the price range. It gets a Snapdragon 665 SoC, aided by 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Obviously, you can’t enjoy graphic-intensive games like PUBG Mobile at the highest level, but it still can run the game at a decent level.
Another strong point of Vivo U10 is the massive 5,000 mAh battery. According to Vivo, this battery can help the Vivo U10 last up to 15 hours if using social networks, 12 hours of watching Youtube and 7 hours of continuous gaming.
And this battery can be quickly refilled with an 18W fast charger.
Vivo U10 uses a total of four cameras including a triple camera system at the back and a selfie camera on the front. The rear setup consists of a 13 MP main sensor, an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle AI, and a 2 MP depth sensor. The main camera system supports AI, Beauty, Panorama, and recording Full-HD video at 30fps.
For selfies, it gets an 8MP camera with f/2.2 aperture, which offers quite good photos if taken in daylight.
In addition, Vivo U10 also comes pre-installed with Android 9 Pie with Funtouch 9.1 UI. It also supports Ultra Game Mode, which offers gaming-related features like blue-ray eye protection, 4D vibrations, and Do not disturb mode.
Verdicts
With a price as low as Rs. 8,999, you can get a product with good hardware configuration in the price range, and a beefy battery with fast charging support.
Other than that, the Vivo U10 doesn’t have any other highlights that can make it shine in the segment. How would you rate the Vivo U10?
