The Vivo S1 Pro is a new mid-range smartphone from Vivo with a stylish design and unique diamond-shaped camera module. Here are our initial impressions.

Vivo has launched in Southeast Asia market a mid-range smartphone called Vivo S1 Pro. It seems that this device might come to India in the recent future. Since we have got the chance to experience the phone for a while, we would like to share our initial impressions about it.

Box & Design

Inside of the box, there are the Vivo S1 Pro, an 18W fast charger, a USB-C charging cable, a 3.5mm earphones, a clear case, and SIM eject tool

On the front, the Vivo S1 Pro’s box has a large, S-shaped white box that extends from the top to the side of the box.

18W fast charger.

SIM eject tool

USB-C charging cable.

The version we had on hand has 8GB RAM / 128GB storage.

The back of the Vivo S1 Pro looks very nice and fashionable.

The version I hold in the hand is Vivo S1 Pro Fancy Sky.

Violet pink with blue intertwined creates a good visual effect. It can be said that more and more mid-range smartphones have been featured with modern and youthful colors. However, the device comes with a plastic back, not glass.

The diamond camera cluster looks quite fancy.

And the main highlight on the back is the quad-camera cluster housed in a diamond-shaped module. This design is only available in the Vivo S5 and Vivo S1 Pro for now.

Of course, this camera cluster still protrudes from the back. Separated from the outside is the LED flash.

At the bottom of the device are the Vivo brand name and ‘Camera & Music’. That might suggest that the handset strikes the ability to take pictures and listen to music, suitable for dynamic young people.

It is quite comfortable to hold the Vivo S1 Pro on hands with the slightly curved edges, though it is slightly heavy due to the large 4,500mAh battery.

Coming to the front, Vivo S1 Pro still uses the familiar water-drop notch design with a speaker strip on top.

Its side bezels have the same thickness.

It still has a sizeable chin at the bottom, which is still a drawback on mid-range devices.

There are a red-accented power button and a volume rocker on the right spine. The plastic frame is also covered with yellow paint.

The left side is packed with a hybrid SIM tray.

The bottom of the device houses a USB-C connector, a microphone, and an external speaker.

On the top of the device are a microphone and 3.5mm headphone jack.

Hardware Configuration

Vivo S1 Pro has a 6.38-inch Super AMOLED panel that supports Full-HD+ resolution. The display quality is quite good. It offers vibrant colors and a sharp & wide viewing angle.

The response speed of the in-display fingerprint reader is also relatively fast. Or you can choose to use the face unlock feature.

Powering the Vivo S1 Pro is a Snapdragon 665 processor that is aided by 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. This configuration helps Vivo S1 Pro handle multitasking well and run games at a decent level.

The most impressive highlight of the device from Vivo is the quad-camera system with a 48MP main sensor with an aperture of F / 1.8, an 8MP super wide-angle lens, a 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP depth sensor.

The front of the Vivo S1 Pro is a selfie camera with a resolution of up to 32 MP.

With a 4,500 mAh battery capacity, the Vivo S1 Pro should last for up to two days with basic tasks. The battery can be quickly charged with the 18W fast charging technology.

In addition, Vivo S1 Pro comes preloaded with Android 9 Pie OS and FunTouchOS interface on top.

Verdicts:

Vivo S1 Pro has a stylish appearance, a unique diamond-shaped camera cluster design, a sharp screen, a quad rear camera cluster, decent hardware configuration, and a beefy battery that supports fast charging.

However, the product still has some limitations, which are not really high-quality plastic finish, common notch design, and a relatively thick bottom chin.

Vivo S1 Pro Price in India: Rs. 19,990
