Realme C3 Review: Decent Design, Great Gaming Performance, Great Battery

Realme C3 is a low-cost phone in the C Series of Realme, and at a price of Rs. 6,999 this will be a direct competitor to the recently launched Redmi 8A Dual. In this review, we will take a look at the Realme C3, but you should note that this is the upgraded model of the phone with three instead of two cameras on the Indian version. Other specs are the same on both versions.

It can be seen that the product box is still familiar with yellow tones in the middle, black in the middle. There are not many accessories inside, including only charging and cables, but the packaging size is quite large. 

The Realme C3 is a budget smartphone, so Realme tries to cut down the phone’s accessories as many as it can. Headphones and plastic cases are not outside this list.

The handset feels quite light when holding in hand because the whole body is made of plastic, but the phone is still quite solid. The Realme C3 is very well finished in every small detail.

The texture on the rear of the device is quite similar to its predecessor - slippery, so you might need to hold on tight to the phone. Holding the device outside you will see 3D light trails running diagonally from the camera angle to the body, which looks nice, but to say impressive, it is still not enough.

The Realme C3 has a battery of up to 5,000 mAh, but only supports charging over a micro-USB port, which is quite old and it does not have fast charging technology. According to Realme, this phone has a 10W charging support only. The 3.5mm headphone port is also retained on the C3.

Also talking about this camera cluster, the Indian version of the phone only has dual rear cameras while there is a new model launched last week with triple rear cameras. To be more specific, apart from the 12 MP f / 1.8 main camera and a 2 MP depth-sensing camera, the upgraded model also comes with a 2 MP macro camera.

Realme C3 screen uses IPS panel that offers sufficient brightness, and a decent viewing angle. This is a budget smartphone, so we can't ask for much. With the 6.5-inch size and small water-drop notch, the Realme C3 display gives a comfortable display space, but the HD + resolution will also hinder many users who want higher definition when watching movies or playing games.

Realme C3: Performance

It uses MediaTek's 12nm Helio G70 processor, 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal memory, just enough to play games in Medium or Low configurations. We tried benchmarking and the Realme C3 score on the AnTuTu test is 178,663, while its GeekBench scores were 352 (single-core) and 1,257 (multi-core). 

As for Realme C3 PUBG Mobile performance, the device automatically set HD graphics settings as well as the high frame rate preset. I was a bit surprised as the game performed pretty well on those settings. I didn’t see any frame drops or stuttering in-game and the experience was nice overall. However, I once pulled down the notification shade to adjust the brightness while I was in-game, and that caused the UI to stutter a bit. However, as soon as I got back to the game, everything was normal again. If you are looking for a budget smartphone to play PUB Mobile, it is a great option. You just need to do is avoiding opening the notification shade while playing unless you are in the lobby.

Realme C3 is pre-installed with Realme UI this time, with a build version of 1.0. The device runs on Android 10 so it is also an advantage for users to experience some of the newer features. We will have a more detailed review of this handset in the near future.
