OPPO Reno2 F Review: Amazing Quad Cameras, Panoramic Display, Affordable Price!

With 4 cameras, full-view Panoramic display, fast charging and an affordable price, the OPPO Reno2 F will become a better choice compared to the Reno2.

OPPO already announced its OPPO Reno2 and Reno2 F in India. While the Reno2 is a high-end offering, the Reno2 F will be an upper mid-range variant with a more affordable price. This is considered a compact variant of Reno2 with similar features, and good price for young, and dynamic users.

First, the box of the Reno2 F remains unchanged with a long, and unique design. Inside the box will be an earphone, a Type-C charger cable, a 20W fast charger, a plastic case, an ejector tool and a manual.

In terms of design, the Reno2 F has a similar design to the premium Reno 2. Its camera cluster, LED flash, OPPO logo, the text "Designed for Reno" are all set into a balanced and harmonious sequence in the center.

Regarding the camera position, the Reno2 F will be a little different from Reno2. If you pay close attention, 4 cameras are separated, of which 3 cameras are neatly put at the top and 1 camera is placed separately. I think this is how OPPO can distinguish between Reno2 and Reno2 F when the Reno2 cameras are all put together in a module.

The camera cut-out is brought down and the sensors are moved to the top.

The Reno2 F body is covered with a plastic frame, glossy glass and attractive lines. Thanks to this design, the back has a unique gradient effect. The device will have 2 color options including Sky White and Lake Green.

The right side has a SIM tray, and a power button with LED light that can activate Google Assistant.

Overall, compared to the solid metal frame of Reno2, Reno2 F has a slight downgrade with a plastic frame. However, thanks to the delicate curved dual-sided design, the Reno2 F still makes it easy and comfortable to hold.

The front is also the highlight of the Reno lineup as it is a full-screen Panoramic display with no notch and cut-out. Specifically, the device sports a 6.5-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a 19.5: 9 aspect ratio and a Gorilla Glass 5 layer. The phone has a contrast of 60,000: 1 and the screen brightness of 430 nits, which helps it have good display capability.

The screen has a screen-to-body ratio of 91.1% with quite thin edges, bringing a better experience when watching videos and playing heavy games with no notch. Additionally, the phone also comes with an in-display fingerprint sensor, helping to unlock the phone quickly and conveniently.

Impressive in-display optical fingerprint sensor.

OPPO has always been one of the brands that offer the best user experience, so despite the budget price, the Reno2 F still features 4 cameras like the Reno2. Though its camera setup cannot be good as that of the Reno 2, this is still an impressive camera module.

Quad cameras include a 48-megapixel primary camera with an aperture of f/1.7, an 8MP super wide-angle sensor with an aperture of f/2.2, a 2MP monochrome sensor with f/2.4 aperture and a 2MP depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture. Each camera will have certain tasks, helping users unleash creativity with many different modes of shooting.

Regarding the selfie camera, the Reno2 F does not keep the "shark fin" design as the Reno2, instead, it features the pop-up sensor like the F11 Pro. The camera has a resolution of 16MP and an aperture of f/2.0 and a light when rising.

The sensor is also used for face recognition with the fast speed, regardless of the lighting conditions.

Regarding the configuration, the device ships with an Helio P70 chipset, coupled with 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. With this chipset, the device can still smoothly perform multi-tasks, even heavy games like PUBG Mobile.

Last, the phone is packed with a big 4,000mAh battery, it supports the 20W VOOC 3.0 fast charging via USB Type-C cable. According to OPPO, this charger can help the device quickly charge the battery in 70 minutes. OPPO Reno2 F will run on Android 9 Pie-based ColorOS 6.1.

The bottom edge has a USB Type-C port, external speaker, microphone and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Final thoughts

With such a budget price, we have to accept some trade-ins on build materials, performance and many other features. However, the Reno2 F still has a beautiful design, 4 cameras, Panoramic Full-View display and a pop-up selfie camera like the F11 Pro.
