At the end of last year, Huawei launched a new member of its Nova 5 series called Huawei Nova 5z. Equipped with 4 rear cameras, Kirin 810 and 4,000mAh battery, this phone is a really attractive package compared to the price of around Rs. 16,600 that the manufacturer announced.
The Huawei Nova 5z is considered a cheaper variant of the Nova 5i Pro that debuted early last year. The phone comes with a new design, a powerful processor for a quite affordable price. Therefore, let's take a quick look at the Huawei Nova 5z and see what is attractive in this product.
As you can see, the Huawei Nova 5z doesn't look like a smartphone that worth around Rs. 16,000. The glass back with gradient effect makes this device look really high-end. The only downside on the rear panel is the presence of the fingerprint reader.
At the back, the square camera cluster in the center above the fingerprint sensor is also a highlight for Huawei Nova 5z. This is a design choice of many brands in 2020. Moreover, the slight curves around the back of the glass also make it more comfortable holding the phone.
Basically, Huawei Nova 5z learns quite a lot of design languages of the Nova 5i Pro. The device has dimensions of 156.1 x 73.9 x 8.3mm and weighs 178 grams. On the right, the phone has power and volume buttons, while a dual SIM slot is located on the left side. On the bottom, the Nova 5z has a USB-C charging port located between the external speaker, microphone and 3.5mm audio jack.
Turning to the front, the Huawei Nova 5z has a 6.26-inch LCD screen and Full HD + resolution. In the upper left corner display area, the manufacturer put a small punch-hole to house a selfie camera. Combined with the surrounding thin bezels, you get an impressive screen-to-body ratio.
Inside, the Nova 5z is powered by Kirin 810 processor. This is a SoC manufactured on a 7nm process, similar to the Kirin 980 on Huawei's flagship smartphones. Therefore, the performance of this machine is quite powerful. The chipset is combined with 6GB or 8GB RAM and 64GB or 128GB storage. To further enhance the gaming experience, the handset supports GPU Turbo technology alongside Android 9 Pie-based EMUI 9.1.
At the rear, Huawei Nova 5z has a quad-camera setup, including a 48MP main camera, 8MP wide-angle camera, 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP depth sensor. The camera also has some special features like many other Huawei phones, including AI night photography, portrait mode, and more.
For selfies, the phone has a 32MP camera housed in the front punch-hole. The camera features portrait night photography, which allows you to take selfies in low light and AR stickers.
Powering the Huawei Nova 5z is a 4,000 mAh battery, supporting 20W fast charging via the USB-C port. Unfortunately, this smartphone does not have Google services and only comes with HMS (Huawei Mobile Services).
The Huawei Nova 5z is available in Black, Blue, and Green. Its 6GB RAM + 64GB storage model is priced at around Rs. 16,600 while the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant costs Rs. 18,900.
