The 5G-capable version of the Xiaomi Mi 9 has just passed through TENAA, hinting that the phone might be launched soon. The handset is dubbed Xiaomi Mi 9S 5G in the TENAA certification and the listing there also reveals most of its specs, including the latest Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC, coupled with Snapdragon X50 5G modem.
As per the listing, the upcoming Xiaomi Mi9S will sport a 6.38-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED panel. The display is protected by a layer of Gorilla Glass 6 on top. According to the listing, it will be powered by an octa-core processor with 2.956GHz clock speed, which is most likely the Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC. The handset is expected to be available in multiple memory variants with 6/8/12GB of RAM, and 128/256/512GB of internal storage.
At the back, it is listed to feature a triple camera setup. While the main camera has 48MP resolution, details of the other two sensors are still under wraps. On the front, there will be a 20MP camera for taking selfies and video chatting. As expected for a flagship device, the 9S should ship with Android 9 Pie with Xiaomi’s MIUI on top. Its battery is also upgraded to 4,000 mAh capacity compared to the 3,300 mAh cell on the Xiaomi Mi 9. It will also reportedly feature the better 45W fast charging solution.
Security-wise, Xiaomi will go for an on-screen fingerprint scanner on the front for biometric authentication. As per the listing, the handset will be available in multiple color variants - Purple, Grey, White, Green, Pink, Black, and Blue. Its dimensions and weight are 157.21x74.61x8.95 mm and 196g, respectively. Considering the fact that several phone makers have already introduced their own 5G-capable smartphones, we believe that Xiaomi will not wait long to introduce its Mi 9S 5G as well.
