Xiaomi already took over the phone maker Meitu in 2018, and it is expected to launch new offerings of that collaboration dubbed Xiaomi CC9e and Xiaomi CC9. Now, the brand finally announces the series.
Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun introduced the Xiaomi CC series and also explained why the company goes for that name. He explains that the CC stands for Colourful & Creative, and it is also developed by a team called Chic & Cool 90.
The announcement doesn’t involve any phone at the moment, and the official launch date of the Xiaomi CC9 with a flip camera is also under the wraps. In addition, the number “9” in the Xiaomi CC9 moniker actually stands for the company’s age which is 9 years. This isn’t the first time Xiaomi changed its smartphone name to celebrate an event. Last year, the brand skipped the Xiaomi Mi 7 and went straight to the Xiaomi Mi 8.
With the CC series, Xiaomi now has third smartphone brands, including Mi, Redmi, and now CC. However, this new series will be quite different from the other two. It will be designed by art students and mainly targets youngsters that “want to define themselves”. Moreover, the design team Chic & Cool 90 will first pursuit aesthetics, so there is a possibility that the Xiaomi CC phone will come with less impressive specifications.
Xiaomi CEO also said that youngsters desire to be heard and seen, and they also want to take a lot of photos and share them with their family, friends, and the public. This new smartphone will feature the new aesthetics concept of the “Xiaomi x Meitu AI Aesthetics Lab” that combines beauty technology and advanced camera hardware. It is likely that the company is planning to implement even more AI engines and beauty filters to improve the photo quality since Chinese users are putting camera quality at the top priorities when choosing a smartphone.
