Vivo U1 With 4,030mAh Battery & Dual Rear Camera Setup Launched

Vivo just launched its Vivo U1 with 4,030 mAh battery, a dual rear camera setup, and a 6.22-inch HD+ display in the Chinese market.

Yesterday, the Chinese phone maker Vivo just teased a new smartphone series in China, the U series, without revealing many details about the series. And now, it has just officially released the first phone in the U series, Vivo U1. Some highlights of the Vivo U1 include a display with a water-drop notch on top, a great battery, and also a dual camera setup on the rear. Unlike the recently-announced Vivo’s sub-brand, IQOO, the Vivo U1 will fall on the budget phone segment instead of the premium one.

Vivo U1: Specifications & Features

The Vivo U1 sports a 6.22-inch FullView HD+ display with a resolution of 1,520 x 720 pixels, an aspect ratio of 19:9, and also a 2.5D curved glass. Under the hood, it is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 439 SoC, coupled with an Adreno 505 GPU. The budget handset will come in a total of three variants, 3GB of RAM/32GB of storage, 3GB of RAM/64GB of storage, and 4GB of RAM/64GB of storage. Users can expand its storage via a microSD card slot.

In the camera aspect, the Vivo U1’s dual rear camera setup includes a 13MP main sensor with f/2.2 aperture, a 2MP depth sensor with an f/2.4 aperture, coupled with a single LED flash.

On the front, there is an 8MP selfie camera with an f/2.0 aperture for taking selfies and video calling. It will run the Android 8.1 Oreo-based Funtouch OS 4.5 out of the box. For biometric authentication, the phone will feature a fingerprint sensor mounted on the rear beside the Face ID feature. Its connectivity options include Wi-Fi, 4G LTE, GPS and Bluetooth 5.0. Lastly, to keep the phone ticking, there will be a 4,030 mAh battery under the hood.

The Vivo U1 is priced starting from CNY 799 (around Rs. 8,400) for the 3G of RAM/32GB of storage base variant. The next option with 3GB of RAM/64GB of storage costs CNY 999 (around Rs. 10,500), while the top-end model with 4GB of RAM/64GB of storage is priced at CNY 1,199 (around Rs. 12,600). It is already available for sale in the Chinese market, and it comes in Aurora, Aurora Red, and Starry Night Black color variants. For now, Vivo hasn’t revealed its plan to launch the phone in other markets.
