Vivo Plans To Unveil Performance-Focused Z Series In India

The upcoming Vivo Z series will include performance-centric phones and will be sold online only.

Smartphone competition has become fiercer and fiercer in India when many phone makers try to surpass others by launching various impressive devices. And in order to not lag behind, Vivo has been developing a new series focused on performance, dubbed the Vivo Z.

So far, there has no certain information about Vivo Z smartphones. The only thing we can sure is that this lineup will be aimed at consumers seeking a phone with good gaming and multi-tasking performance. According to a report from ET, the Vivo Z will be only sold online and aimed to GenZ. Phones in the series will have the price range from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 30,000, which is a bit wide price range and will have most of the mid-range devices from other Chinese phone makers.

Indian online phone market has shown enormous growth potential. According to a report from Counterpoint, the revenue in online smartphone segment took up 36% of the overall revenue in 2018. In the first quarter of 2019, this number reached to the mark of 41% and is said to be 37% for the whole year. With its online market-focused strategy, Vivo is seeking to expand the market share in the country, standing at 12% in Q1, 2019, up by 6% year-on-year, as per Counterpoint.

Vivo Y15: Specifications, Features, Price In India

Vivo also introduced its new Y15 in India and is tipped to unveil mid-range Y12 early. The Y15 comes with triple rear cameras and a big 5,000mAh battery with the price tag of 13,990. In term of specs and features, the Y15 sports a 6.35-inch display with HD+ resolution. Under the hood, the phone is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio P22 chipset and a memory setup of 4GB RAM + 64GB expandable internal storage.

The smartphone also features a triple-camera setup at the back consisting of a 13-megapixel primary camera (f/2.2), an 8MP secondary lens (f/2.2) with a 120-degree field-of-view wide-angle sensor, and a 2MP depth camera (f/2.4). Upfront, there is a 16-megapixel selfie snapper. To keep things ticking, there is a 5,000mAh battery, and on the software front, it runs Android 9 Pie OS with FunTouch OS 9 skin on top.

The phone also comes with triple rear cameras including a 13MP primary sensor with an aperture of f/2.2, an 8MP 120-degree-wide angle secondary sensor with f/2.2 aperture, and a 2MP f/2.4 depth sensor. On the front, the phone features a 16MP sensor. Besides, the phone is backed with a big 5,000mAh cell. In terms of software, it runs FunTouch OS 9 based on Android 9 Pie at launch.
