Huawei finally releases its foldable Mate X 5G in China for a price of $2,400 (around Rs. 1,72,900). Despite the hefty price tag, the device was quickly sold out in under one minute. However, the brand hasn’t disclosed the exact quantity of the devices sold in the first batch, which might raise a doubt that Huawei could offer a very limited number of units up for sale.
The handset hit the shelf after nearly 9 months delay since its first launch in February this year. The reasons for the delay are still under wraps until now. Since this is the sale for the Chinese market, the lack of Google Play apps is not a big issue at all. It is the case for all Android smartphones launched in the country. Let’s wait and see when the brand releases the device in international markets.
Huawei Mate X 5G: Specifications
The Huawei Mate X comes with an 8” main display with 2,200 x 2,840p resolution when it is unfolded. When folded, it transforms into a 6-inch display with 1,148 x 2,480p resolution and an aspect ratio of 19:9; and a 6.38” screen at the back with an 892 x 2,490p resolution. Powering the device is an octa-core Kirin 980 chipset with Balong 5000 5G modem. Under the hood, it packs a beefy 4,500 mAh battery cell with 55W SuperCharge support, which is said to refill its juice up to 80% in 35 minutes. For security, there is a fingerprint reader mounted at its side.
It is only available in a single memory configuration with 8GB of RAM and 512GB of expandable storage. In terms of software, it comes with Android 9 Pie pre-loaded and Huawei’s EMUI 9.1.1. On the imaging front, it rocks a triple camera cluster with a 40MP main sensor, a 16MP secondary camera with an ultra-wide-angle lens, and an 8MP telephoto unit. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, 5G Multi-mode, Bluetooth v5.0 LE, NFC, GPS, USB-C port, and dual-band Wi-Fi 802.1
