Sony Xperia 5 Announced With Snapdragon 855 & Triple Rear Cameras

Sony has just announced a new flagship offering called Sony Xperia 5, which comes with a Snapdragon 855 SoC, triple rear cameras, 21:9 display, and more.

The Sony Xperia 5 has just been announced by Sony at the IFA 2019 event in Germany. The handset is launched as a new flagship from the brand with a Snapdragon 855 SoC under the hood. It also sports an HDR CinemaWide screen with a tall 21:9 aspect ratio, Gorilla Glass 6 on both sides, and a triple camera setup at the back with Cinema Pro that enables 4K HDR video recording. 

Sony Xperia 5: Availability & Price

The Sony Xperia 5 is retailed at at £699 (around Rs. 62,000). It comes in Blue, Grey, Red, and Black hues and will be up for pre-order in the UK from 18 September. The brand also announces that it is planning to bring the phone to other markets from next month.

Sony Xperia 5: Specifications

The Xperia 5 ships with Android 9.0 Pie at launch. It sports a 6.1-inch FHD+ OLED panel with HDR support and Bravia X1 for vibrant and bright colors. Its display also has an impressive aspect ratio of 21:9, which has also been used on several other Sony smartphones. There is a Snapdragon 855 chipset ticking at its core with 6GB RAM, 64GB of storage and an Adreno 640 GPU. The phone also has a microSD card slot that can help users expand their storage up to 1TB. Under the hood, it packs a 3,140 mAh battery with 18W fast charging solution support.

In terms of camera, there is a triple camera setup on the rear. It includes a 12MP main sensor with f/1.7 aperture, Dual Pixel PDAF, and 5-axis OIS, a 12MP telephoto sensor with f/2.4 aperture and 2x optical zoom; and a 12MP ultra-wide shooter with f/2.4 aperture. For selfies, it has an 8MP Exmor RS camera with f/2.0 aperture. 

For security, it is equipped with a fingerprint reader at the back. Finally, its connectivity features include Wi-Fi, 4G VoLTE, GPS/ GLONASS, USB-C port, NFC and Bluetooth 5.0.
