Samsung is one of the most active companies in developing foldable devices. Samsung India already sold the Galaxy Fold in India in early October. Recently, the brand was said to be working on the Galaxy Fold 2 with a clamshell design. Not just that, the Korean phone maker also recently filed a new patent application for a device with a stretchable display. Accordingly, users can use the patented phone in two states - open and close. In a closed state, it will look like a traditional smartphone, while an open state means that the smartphone's screen is expanded to a relatively larger size.

According to the report, Samsung filed this patent at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in June, and it was announced on December 19. The Korean company is hoping this patent will be granted as soon as possible.

The patent sketch shows that the smartphone has pretty narrow left & right sides. However, the bottom chin is quite large in size. The interesting thing about this smartphone is that you will be able to increase or decrease the screen size as you like, thanks to the movable back panel, which you will be able to control.

When the phone is in the closed state, most of the folded display lies behind the bottom chin being folded. When users need, the folded part of the display can be scrolled out to reveal a taller display.
On paper, this handset can be useful for those who want a compact device but still need a decently large display for media consumption or productivity apps. It still has the same purpose as the Galaxy Fold, but Samsung is going in a different direction with this one. Unlike the Galaxy Fold, this new phone seems to have a less-bulkier body.
For now, we have heard about the design of the two new foldable smartphones from Samsung. However, because the new one is just a patent it is not clear whether Samsung plans to realize it on its future smartphones.
