Samsung Is Said To Get A 50 Percent Profit Off Of Each Galaxy S10+

According to an analysis of Tech Insights, the manufacturing cost of the 8GB RAM/128GB storage Galaxy S10+ occupies around nearly half of its retail price.

A few days ago, Samsung launched its latest Galaxy S10 lineup. Tech Insights released its analysis of the Galaxy S10+ (variant with Exynos 9820 SoC, SM-G975F/DS codename) and the BOM cost's summary in term of material. According to the report, the cost for manufacturing the 8GB RAM/128GB storage variant is US$420, equivalent to around 42 percent of its US$999 retail price. Certainly, though the auxiliary materials, testing, and assembly costs are still considered, the analysis of the BOM cost should just be used for reference. Also, it condenses various investment in logistics, R&D, enterprise propaganda, and human resources after all. It can't be easily confirmed that the S10+’s profit is likely to reach 50 percent.

According to Tech Insights, the Infinity-O ultra-sensor full display of 6.4 inches with ultrasonic fingerprint scanner has the highest cost estimated at US$86.5, followed by the Samsung Exynos 9820 SoC’s cost valued at nearly US$70.5 and camera components are estimated to cost around US$56.5. As a tradition throughout the 10-year course of the Galaxy S series, this lineup is completely upgraded in software and hardware with internal storage up to 1TB.

Additionally, the display uses a cut-out display design. Regarding the imaging capacity, the Galaxy S10 and affordable Galaxy S10e come with a selfie camera while the higher version, Galaxy S10+ comes with two selfie cameras. Moreover, it has 4K self-timer video recording support and sports a curved screen of 6.4 inches with 2K resolution. Also, the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+ feature the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor that can work in various weather situations.

Furthermore, the Galaxy S10 lineup makes already smart features more accurate with the Neural Processing Unit (NPU), along with a 123° super wide angle, 2x optical zoom, and 10x digital zoom. Users can set the parameters manually to capture more professional images manually without switching on the professional camera mode. The S10+ also has a large battery having a capacity of 4,100mAh and wireless reverse charging support to power the Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Buds.
