Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 Durability Test Shows Massive Improvements Over The Galaxy Fold

Unlike its predecessor Galaxy Fold, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 survives JerryRigEverything's durability test with great results.

As you may know, Samsung has just released its new foldable phone called Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2. Shortly after its release, the device has survived the durability test from YouTuber Zack Nelson, also known as JerryRigEverything, who is famous for his durability tests and teardown videos. This is one of the most highly anticipated tests because foldable devices are often said to have low durability.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 Durability Test 1 — First, when folded, it can be seen that the Galaxy Z Fold 2 still has a small gap between the two sides of the folding screen. However, this will not heavily affect users’ experience.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 Durability Test 2 — The front display of the device starts scratching at level 6 with deeper grooves at level 8. It is also protected by a screen protector out of the box but was removed before the scratch test.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 Durability Test 3 — As for the main display, it is also covered by a screen protector, which was also removed by Jerry before the scratch test. However, unlike the Galaxy Fold, that did not damage the screen of the Galaxy Z Fold 2. It seems that this is just a screen protector that Samsung has added, similar to the front screen. However, Samsung itself warned users not to remove that.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 Durability Test 4 — With a layer of Ultra-thin glass, the display starts scratching at level 2. Even fingernails can do damage to it.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 Durability Test 5 — The Samsung logo on the hinge can be easily peeled off.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 Durability Test 6 — When folded with dust and dirt, the main display was almost not affected. As can be seen, this is one of the very valuable improvements over the Galaxy Fold.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 Durability Test 7 — Under the heat from a lighter in 15 seconds, the inner display of the device had a little mark.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 Durability Test 8 — Finally, in the bend test, Jerry could not bend the Galaxy Z Fold 2 as he did with the Galaxy Fold. It can be seen that the durability of the device has been greatly improved.
