Lenovo recently announced a one-of-a-kind version of ThinkPad – the ThinkPad X1 Fold. Imagine Samsung Galaxy Fold but in a 13-inch form. The foldable laptop is already available for preorders with a price starting $2,499.
The idea behind this design is for you to use the laptop like an extra-large tablet when you unfold it. Or you can prop it up and pair it with a detachable keyboard and an easel stand.
Fold it 90 degrees and you will have a miniature laptop. A virtual keyboard will pop up on the bottom half for you to type on. Turning the thing horizontally and you have a book with a stylus if you want.
Under the hood, the ThinkPad X1 Fold runs on Intel’s Lakefield processors. It has a SIM card slot, two USB-C port, onboard storage of 1TB, and RAM of 8GB. The device is powered by a 50Wh battery. Plus, it has support for 5G.
Along with the world’s first foldable laptop, Lenovo also introduced ThinkPad X1 Nano, which is the most light-weight ThinkPad. This light laptop is developed on the Evo platform, which means it’s certified to charge fast, have a long battery life, and quick boot time.
The ThinkPad X1 Nano’s screen measures 13 inches with 2K resolution. Users have the choice to acquire the device with either a non-touch or a touch option. The laptop is also equipped with a slew of AI security measures. For example, it can sense you walking by and turn on and lock when it senses you walking away.
The Nano is powered by 11th Gen Intel processors, paired with 16GB of RAM, 1TB of storage, and a 48Wh battery, along with Intel’s Xe integrated graphics. The laptop also has support for 5G and can run Windows 10 Pro along with Linux.
The ThinkPad X1 Nano will be available for $1,399 starting Q4 of 2020.
The ThinkBook line also welcomes several additions. The premium offers are the ThinkBook 13s Gen 2, which sets you back $729, the ThinkBook 14s Yoga, which comes as the price of $879, and the ThinkBook 15 Gen 2, which costs $549.
None of these flagships can compete with the foldable laptop in terms of price and technology.
