Redmi said on July 21 that the brand would announce important news on July 22. Like what it said, it has recently teased about its upcoming phone with a 64MP camera today. Accordingly, this new phone could beat other rivals such as Samsung and Realme to launch the first 64MP camera phone in the world.
The brand posted a photo sample captured by this 64MP phone on Weibo. Technically, it was not an original camera sample from the handset. But, the sample zooms into the cat picture to show the crisp details surrounding its eye. And this is all the information that we know from the teaser.
The introduction of a 64MP camera phone could be the brand’ big step. Both Samsung and Realme are tipped to be on track of launching their own 64MP camera phones. However, their devices are expected to be unveiled in later 2019. Previously, Madhav Sheth, Realme’s CEO posted several camera samples in June, which gives us a first look at level details from the brand’s 64MP device. However, as per the teaser’s timing, it is likely that Redmi will beat Samsung and Realme in introducing the first 64MP phone in the world.
Redmi’s 64MP phone’s rumours have surfaced online since the beginning of June. Actually, terms such as “64MP dual cameras” and “64MP UltraPixel mode” have already been spotted inside MIUI camera application, which proves that the brand was already developing this model. The device is expected to sport the new 64MP ISOCELL Bright GW1 camera sensor of Samsung.
Redmi looks like taking much responsibility under Lu Weibing’s guidance. Its Redmi Note 7 and K20 Pro lineups have really succeeded in the Chinese market and other markets worldwide thanks to the quality hardware at affordable pricing. With the preparation for the 64MP phone launch, Redmi will become very busy in the coming time.
