The Redmi Note 8 series has finally gone official in China. The series is launched as the successor to the Redmi Note 7 series, and it includes Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro. Both of the phones come with impressive specs, but the Note 8 Pro is the one that hits the headlines with a 64MP quad-camera system. Aside from that, the Redmi Note 8 Pro is also the first phone in the world to feature the new Helio G90T chipset. Other highlights of the Note 8 Pro include a beefy battery, 25x zoom, liquid cooling system, and water-drop notch. As for the Redmi Note 8, it features a 48MP quad-camera system on the rear and a Snapdragon 665 chipset.
Redmi Note 8 & Redmi Note 8 Pro: Price
The Redmi Note 8 is priced at CNY 999 (around Rs. 10,000) for the entry-level variant with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The prices go up to CNY 1,199 (around Rs. 12,000) and CNY 1,399 (around Rs. 14,000) for the other two options - 6GB RAM + 64GB of storage and 6GB RAM + 128GBof storage, respectively.
Moving to the Redmi Note 8 Pro, it is retailed at CNY 1,399 (around Rs. 14,000) for the base variant with 6GB of RAM / 64GB of storage. Just like its sibling, the phone also comes in two more options with 6GB RAM / 128GB storage and 8GB RAM / 128GB storage. Their prices are CNY 1,599 (around Rs. 16,000) and CNY 1,799 (around Rs. 18,000).
The Redmi Note 8 will be up for sale in China from 17 September, and it will be available in Blue White, and Black. Meanwhile, the Redmi Note 8 Pro will go on sale from 3 September and come in Electric Grey, Jade Green, and White colors.
Redmi Note 8 Pro: Specifications
As mentioned, the Redmi Note 8 Pro comes with a quad-camera system stacked vertically at the top corner of the rear panel. The camera cluster comprises of a 64MP main sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide camera with 120-degree field of view, a 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP depth-sensing unit. The main 64MP sensor has a 0.8μm pixel size, that is said to offer 34% more optical information that the 48MP sensor. The phone also makes use of the pixel-binning tech to capture better photos in low-light conditions. Its cameras are also said to support 25X zoom and record 8K video at 960fps. On the front, it sports a 20MP snapper for taking selfies and video calling.
On the front, it boasts a 6.53-inch panel with FHD+ resolution, an aspect ratio of 19.5:9, a screen-to-body ratio of 91.4, and a water-drop notch on the top for the selfie camera. Powering the phone is an Helio G90T processor with a clock speed of up to 2.0GHz, and HyperEngine technology for better gaming experience. It will come in three memory configurations - 6GB RAM / 64GB storage, 6GB RAM / 128GB storage, and 8GB RAM / 128GB storage. The handset is also said to support UFS 2.1 memory for faster transfer.
In terms of software, it ships with MIUI 10 at launch that is based on Android 9.0 Pie. For security, there is a fingerprint scanner mounted at its back for unlocking the phone. Connectivity options include hybrid dual-SIM slots, Wi-Fi, 4G LTE, GPS, and Bluetooth. Fueling the setup is a beefy 4,500 mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging solution. If you are a fan of World of Warcraft, the Redmi Note 8 Pro World of Warcraft edition might be a good one to grab. The brand already showcased the edition at the event.
Redmi Note 8: Specifications
The Redmi Note 8 is the more affordable offering in the series. The phone is packed with similar specs to its sibling. The device sports a 6.39-inch panel with FHD+ resolution. Notably, it features different chipset and cameras from its Pro sibling. However, the Note 8 still has a quad-camera setup, that includes a 48MP primary sensor. The main sensor is aided by an 8MP ultra-wide camera with, a 2MP dedicated macro lens, and a 2MP depth sensor. Under the hood, it is driven by a Snapdragon 665 octa-core processor, which is the successor to the Snapdragon 660 chipset used on the Redmi Note 7. Finally, it is fueled by a 4,000 mAh battery, that can be charged with 18W fast charging solution.
