The Realme X7 Pro 5G is a good mid-range 5G smartphone, but you have to check out these compromises before buying this phone.

Realme is one of the world’s fastest-growing smartphone brands and it seems to be trying to keep up with that pace in 2021. One of the brand’s latest smartphones is the Realme X7 Pro 5G. It was recently launched in India for a price of Rs. 29,999. The device has some of the top-end specifications that you can mostly find in a flagship device, like 120HZ AMOLED panel, dual standby 5G, and 65W fast charging technology. Let’s take a look at our Realme X7 Pro 5G review and see how the phone performs in real life.
Realme X7 Pro 5G review: Display
On the front, the phone is wrapped by a 6.55” flat AMOLED panel with Full-HD+ (2,400 x 1,080p) resolution and a 20:9 aspect ratio. It supports a 120Hz refresh rate, which is quite rare for an OLED panel at the price point. Even after just a short time using the phone, I can easily conclude this phone delivers the best visual experience among all Realme smartphones. The display is vibrant, offers natural colors as well as deep and prominent blacks. I also have to mention the 100 percent DCI P3 colour gamut coverage as well as the 240Hz touch sampling rate. One thing I don’t really like is the punch-hole cut-out at the top left corner, but we have to live with that until there is a better solution to hide the selfie camera.
With a 120Hz refresh rate, it felt so smooth when using the phone. I didn’t see any stutter or frame rate drop during navigation, browsing, or scrolling. The display is also very bright, to the point that you can use it in direct sunlight comfortably.
Realme X7 Pro 5G review: Performance
MediaTek chipsets have gotten so much better in the past few years. The Dimensity 1000+ on the Realme X7 Pro 5G is evidence of that. On Geekbench, the device achieved 700 points on the single-core test and 3,014 on the multi-core test. While the Geekbench results of the phone aren’t that promising, its performance on AnTuTu is so much better. It scored 5,15,025 points, which is just below the Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro (5,67,321 points), which is powered by the flagship Snapdragon 865. The phone also performs very well during real-world use as well, part of which is thanks to the 8GB RAM. I saw no lag when switching between heavy apps or heavy multitasking.
I was also impressed by the GPU performance. However, you will be slightly disappointed if you are expecting a flagship-like performance from this phone. For example, you won’t be able to play Call of Duty: Mobile at Max settings. You can only pick between maxing Frame rate or Graphic Quality. During my gaming session, I chose the highest Frame rate setting and Very High Frame rate setting. And it was a pretty smooth experience as I only encountered very few frame drops and the phone stayed fairly warm thanks the power efficiency of the 7nm chipset and the eSport Vapor Cooling mechanism.
Realme X7 Pro 5G review: Cameras
The handset features a quad-camera lens setup at the back and a 32MP selfie camera on the front. Let’s start with the rear camera setup, which is led by a 64MP Sony IMX686 sensor. The other three units are an 8MP ultra-wide lens and two 2MP units for macro and monochrome shots.
The main camera is the only one in the setup that performs well, especially in worse lighting conditions. The photos have a good dynamic range, lots of details, and natural colors. In darker conditions, the results get much worse. Things didn’t get any better when I tried the dedicated night mode. Even though the mode increased the exposure for more details, it also left lots of noise.
The macro camera is pretty useless as I would recommend taking photos with the main camera and crop in for better macro shots. The ultra-wide lens is slightly better as the outcomes are usable, unlike the macro and monochrome units. As for the selfie shooter, it performs quite well and the portrait shots look clean.
The main camera is capable of recording up to 4K videos at 60 fps, but the output is pretty bad. You can use the dedicated night video mode that will boost ISO in exchange for a lower amount of details.
Realme X7 Pro 5G review: Battery
With a large 4,500 mAh battery, the Realme X7 Pro 5G lasted nearly a full day with heavy usage. That isn’t the best out there, but still pretty impressive to me. A huge bonus is the 65W fast charging technology that goes with the phone. You will be able to charge from 0 to 100 percent in roughly 40 minutes.
