Roberto Escobar, who is a brother of the drug lord Pablo Escobar, was an accountant of the notorious drug cartel Medellin. After spending 11 years in a prison in Colombia, he founded Escobar Inc. and registered as the heir to his brother's huge fortune, which is believed to be around $30 billion.
Since its inception, Escobar Inc has invested in many projects, such as producing flamethrowers or launching virtual currencies. Most recently, Escobar Inc has suddenly announced that the company is developing a foldable smartphone at an extremely affordable price to compete with Apple.
According to DigitalTrends, the folding screen smartphone is about to be launched under the name Escobar Fold 1, with a flexible screen design that can be folded backward.
Reportedly, the Escobar Fold 1 comes pre-installed with Android 9, integrated with Qualcomm's flagship Snapdragon 855 chipset, and a 4,000 mAh battery. The Escobar Fold 1 screen uses an FHD + AMOLED panel, measuring 7.8 inches when folded - a bit bigger than the Galaxy Fold (7.3-inch display). Its dual camera cluster consists of 16MP + 20 MP sensors. Users will be able to choose to buy the device in two configurations - 6GB RAM / 128GB storage and 8GB RAM / 512GB storage.
Notably, according to Roberto Escobar's statement, Escobar Fold 1 will have much stronger durability than the Galaxy Fold, which has easily damaged screen & hinge.
In addition, he claims that the company also pays special attention to security on the Escobar Fold 1.
The first batch of Escobar Fold 1 will be limited to about 100,000 units. The 128GB version will be sold for $349 (around Rs. 25,000), while the 512GB version will cost $499 (around Rs. 35,700). However, Escobar Fold 1 will only be sold exclusively on the Escobar website.
According to Roberto Escobar's explanation, the Escobar Fold 1 will not be distributed through carriers and retailers as it will make this phone more affordable than other foldable smartphones. It is also the most important factor for his company to defeat Apple. He also told Digital Trends that:
Notably, Pablo Escobar's brother also revealed that he is planning to sue Apple next year. He himself also spent up to $ 1 million from his own money to lawyers to prepare for this class-action lawsuit, which will require Apple to compensate users for $ 30 billion. Roberto Escobar said.
