Most of the hardware launched by Google have all come with a hitch. In the case of their new Pixel 3 and 3 XL, many users have been reporting many issues and the most recent one is charging caused the Pixel 3 to overheat.

It seems like Google Pixel 3 is having another issue since its release on October
Since the Pixel 3 and 3 XL has been released, many users have reported this issue on Reddit, Twitter, Product Forums of Google, and even in many videos on YouTube. Users’ experience may vary, but the overall issue here is that many users have been noticing that their Pixel phones can get really hot during battery charging which may cause their devices to shut down.
Generally, charging can cause any phone to get a little bit of heat, but the overheating issue on the Pixel 3 is surely a concern. Apparently, when the phone is both performing a task and charging at the same time (often wireless charging), it may heat up significantly. Video calls appear to be the root of this issue, but other users also report a video stream to cause the problem.
The issue is not just limited to a specific charging type. Users have also been experiencing this issues with non-Google chargers, Pixel Stand of Google and even on several other chargers.
And once the Pixel 3 reaches a certain level of heat, it will notify users to note the excessive heat. If it still doesn’t get any better, the phone will then turn off to prevent the heat from damaging it. When overheating, the phone will also slow its charging rate signification. It even reduces to the phone where the battery life can reduce while the phone is still charging.

Users will be notified if their phone get to a certain temperature
Currently, it is still not clear how widespread the issue is. Some users report that replacing a new device would solve the issue.
Google has not said anything on this issue. It is still unclear whether this problem is caused by hardware issue or can be mitigated via software updates. For now, if you are experiencing the same issue, you should contact to exchange your phones.
