Oppo Reno 2 5G Alleged Listed on TENAA With Quad Rear Cameras & Periscope Lens

After launching the Oppo Reno 2 series, it seems the Chinese phone maker Oppo doesn’t stop there as it is reportedly planning to announce a new 5G phone in the series. A new smartphone with the model number OPPO PCKM70 has just passed through TENAA, and it is tipped to be the 2nd-generation Oppo Reno 5G. The TENAA listing reveals that the handset will feature the same design as its predecessor, except for the shade. While the Oppo Reno 5G sports a triple camera setup with a Periscope lens, the new Oppo PCKM70 comes with a quad-camera system on the rear with a 48MP main sensor.

Just like the Reno 5G, the Reno 2 5G also appears to be equipped with a periscope lens, which is used for optical zoom to take lossless photos of subjects at a far distance. However, it is not clear whether the lens still supports 5x zoom or the brand will go for a different one. However, the listing on TENAA does confirm that its camera cluster will include a 48MP sensor alongside 13MP + 16MP + 8MP sensors on the rear. According to the photo in the listing, there will be three sensors stacked vertically in the middle of the back panel, while the other one will be located on the right side along with an LED flash below it. On the front, it will sport a 16MP snapper for taking selfies and video chats.

Powering the Reno 2 5G is listed to be a 2.96GHz chipset, which has the same clock speed as the Snapdragon 855 Plus. Since it is a 5G smartphone, the handset should pack a Snapdragon X50 5G modem. On the front, it is tipped to sport a 6.6-inch AMOLED panel with FHD+ resolution, which is the same as the Reno 5G. It isn’t confirmed in the listing, but we believe that the Reno 2 5G should come with an edge-to-edge display with an on-screen fingerprint reader and a shark-fin selfie camera. The whole setup will most likely be fueled by a 3,950 mAh cell. Taking care of the software side of things should be Android 9 Pie with Oppo’s ColorOS on top. It should also come with up to 12GB of RAM + 256GB of storage.

The brand hasn’t revealed whether it will unveil the Reno 2 5G. However, we expect it to be soon since the device already made its appearance on TENAA. Meanwhile, the Chinese company has also recently teased a new Oppo Reno smartphone with 50W Super VOOC fast charging solution and a 90Hz display instead of the standard one with 60Hz refresh rate.
