It is quite confusing that Vivo releases a new variant for the one-year-old Vivo Y91i for a price that can easily be used to buy better smartphones.

Vivo Y91i, launched in India for around a year, has now come in a new variant with 3GB of RAM. To recall, the handset was announced in the country in a single 2GB RAM + 16GB storage variant at a price of Rs. 7,990 (now cut to Rs. 6,990). It is quite confusing why Vivo decides to release a new variant of a one-year-old smartphone at a price that its rivals already offer much more such as Realme C3 with triple rear cameras or Redmi 8A Dual with dual rear cameras.
Vivo Y91i: Price in India & Availability
The Vivo Y91i price in India is Rs. 6,990 for the 2GB RAM + 16GB storage. As for the new Vivo Y91i 3GB RAM model, it is priced at Rs. 7,990, according to Mumbai based retailer Mahesh Telecom.
Vivo Y91i: Specifications & Availability
The device sports a 6.22-inch FullView display with a water-drop notch, HD+ resolution, 2.5D curved glass, and 19:9 aspect ratio. Powering the phone is an Helio P22 chipset, aided by 2/3GB of RAM and 16/32GB of storage (expandable with a microSD card). Software-wise, it ships with Android 8.1 Oreo-based FunTouch OS out of the box. For now, it hasn’t received any upgrade to Android 9 Pie, which is a huge bummer.
On the front, there is an 8MP camera for selfies while the phone gets a 13MP single camera at the back. Again, Realme or Xiaomi have already released smartphones with at least dual cameras in the same price range. Not just that, it also has a 4,000mAh battery that supports no fast charging technology in comparison to the Realme C3 with 5,000mAh battery and 10W charging solution as well as the Redmi 8A Dual with 5,000 mAh unit and 18W fast charging standard.
