In just a few days, there have already been several Chinese phone makers announce their 5G smartphones in the MWC event taking place in Shanghai. Now, ZTE’s sub-brand Nubia also introduced a new flagship. However, the phone is not an entirely-new smartphone, but it is just an upgraded model of the existing flagship with 5G network support.

The Nubia X 5G is said to be the upgraded model of the Nubia X, but instead of the Snapdragon 845 SoC, this new phone will boast a Snapdragon 855 chipset and a Snapdragon X50 modem to enable 5G network. The phone will also have a 5G branding at the back as well.
Other than that, it seems like the two models will have a lot of similarities in terms of specifications. However, we haven’t got the full specs list yet so there might be minor upgrades in the battery capacity and thickness which are expected for a 5G-enabled smartphone.
The company has not confirmed the exact launch date of the Nubia X 5G, but it is confirmed to premiere in its home soil China.
Nubia X: Specifications

Since the Nubia X 5G and Nubia X are expected to share a lot of similarities in terms of specifications, let’s go through the main specs of the Nubia X. It also features a second OLED panel at the back with 5.1 inches in size, HD+ resolution, and Gorilla Glass 3. It is driven by a Snapdragon 845 SoC, which will be replaced by the Snapdragon 855 SoC in the Nubia X 5G. Paired with the processor is up to 8GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.

For software, it boots Android 8.1 with Nubia UI 6 on top. However, it is highly likely that the 5G-enabled model will ship with Android 9 Pie instead. In terms of camera, it sports a dual camera setup at the back, including a 16MP camera with an f/1.8 lens and a 24MP snapper with an f/1.7 lens. The cameras are coupled with Dual-LED dual-tone flash. It is fueled by a 3,800 mAh battery with 18W fast charging support. There is a possibility that the Nubia X 5G might boast a large display because, with 5G, it will likely consume more battery than the 4G-enabled model.
