The LG G8 is set to be released at Mobile World Congress this year in Barcelona. Now, right ahead of the MWC event, a new report just emerged suggesting that the exact release date of the LG flagship will be 24 February. The report also reveals specs and features of the LG G8. Previously rumor tipped that the Korean phone maker would also release another phone that features a dual display at the same event, though it hasn’t been corroborated by the latest report.
LG is set to launch the LG G8 at 10 am on 24 February, according to Korean site ETNews. However, it is still unclear whether the launch time is based on local time of South Korea or Barcelona where MWC is held. If it is the former, the phone will launch at 2 am CET and 6:30 am IST, which is highly unlikely if it is to be an MWC 2019-focused event. The latter is more reasonable as it will happen at 10 am CET, 2:30 pm IST and 6 pm Korean time.
In this year, the MWC will start from 25 February to 28 February. With the fact that the LG G8 launching on 24 February, LG will unveil the handset right ahead of the MWC, which is not uncommon as most of the major phone makers hold pre-MWC events to show their latest devices.
As we already mentioned, the report from ETNews claimed that LG would use a triple rear camera system on the LG G8 along with a 3D shooting setup. It also suggested that the LG flagship will sport a water-drop notched display which has already been adopted by quite a few phone makers.
It will be powered by the latest Qualcomm’s flagship, Snapdragon 855 processor, which have also already been used by major phone makers like Xiaomi, Samsung and Sony on their respective flagships, Mi 9, Galaxy S10, and Xperia XZ4. OnePlus also confirmed that it would use the SoC on their next flagship phone.
