Huawei has just launched the latest Kirin 810 SoC on June 21 at the launch event of Huawei Nova 5. The new SoC is integrated into the phone and is the second 7nm SoC. It is known that the chipset has a Huawei-made dedicated NPU, which is different from Kirin 980 made by another company. According to the result of AI Benchmark 3, the new chipset is really a beast.
The benchmark revealed how well the SoC performed in the tasks related to AI compared to other chipsets as well as provided some main information about the Kirin 810. And the mid-range Huawei Nova 5 really comes with this new chipset.

In addition, the latest 7nm Kirin 810 is an octa-core chipset with four 2.27 GHz Cortex-A76 cores and 1.88 GHz Cortex-A55 cores. Besides, the chipset also has a Huawei-made dedicated NPU.
Regarding the scores, the Huawei Nova 5 powered by Kirin 810 gained 33,863 scores in AI score, which outperforms the ASUS Zenfone 6, the LG V50 ThinQ 5G phones powered by Snapdragon 855 and the OPPO Reno Z coming with Helio P90 to hold the no.1 spot in the list.
In terms of the chipset ranking, the new Kirin 810 gains 23,944 points in AI score, which brings it to the top position ahead of the Snapdragon 855, Helio P90, Exynos 9820 and Kirin 980 chipsets.

Huawei must have paid much effort to develop its own dedicated NPU to come with the new Kirin 810 SoC. And in addition to the Huawei Nova 5, Huawei will also equip this chipset in the Honor 9X Pro.
For further information, the Nova 5 powered by the new Kirin 810 SoC is able to run deep learning algorithms to enable several features like the night mode for selfies and backlit pictures with high quality. AI algorithms handle raw image data to enhance human subjects when deposing dark backgrounds.
