iPhone 2020 Might Be Much More Expensive Than The iPhone 11 Pro

According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the upcoming iPhone 12 (or iPhone 2020) will be announced with a much higher price tag compared to the iPhone 11 series.

In a recent report, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo revealed that 2020 iPhones with 5G technology will come with a significant increase in production costs. Therefore, the new iPhones will cost much more than the iPhone 11 Pro or iPhone 11 Pro Max.

Kuo said that the main board on the iPhone 2020 5G will be about 10% larger and integrate new technologies. New boards and new antenna technologies to support 5G will increase the cost of manufacturing that component by 35%.

The motherboard is one of the most expensive components of an iPhone, only inferior to the OLED screen and A-series processor. AppleInsider also pointed out that the integration of 5G technology increases the price of high-end smartphones by $400 (around Rs. 28,400).

Although Apple has different business strategies, it always puts high-profit margins on each iPhone. So consumers may have to spend a few hundred dollars more to own the iPhone 2020 with 5G technology.

In addition to that, the 2020 iPhones promise to also feature a 120Hz screen, a new Face ID sensor, and possibly a Touch ID fingerprint sensor under the screen. All of these advanced technologies will also contribute to the price increase of the 2020 iPhone models.

iPhone 12 might arrive with massive changes in design compared to its predecessor

Since the launch of the iPhone 6 five years ago, until the iPhone 11 launched in September, Apple had been quite loyal to its design language, with rounded edges, the contoured screen glass, and the bulbous frame. However, with iPhone 12, it might change, as Apple is expected to reuse the designs of iPhone 4 / 4S, 5 / 5S and iPhone SE.

According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the company will use the same metal frame design as the iPhone 4. This means the border of the upcoming iPhones will feature a boxier and sharper aesthetic, no longer rounded like iPhone 11 Pro or iPhone Xs.
