Huawei Mate X, Huawei's first foldable phone, has just been unveiled, packing an 8-inch AMOLED display, Kirin 980 SoC, 4500mAh battery, and 5G connection.

You have already seen the teasers of the Huawei’s first foldable phone, Huawei Mate X. And now Huawei has just officially announced the phone in MWC 2019. The device comes with support for 5G network, based on Baolong 5000 which is Huawei’s modem. The company boldly claimed that the Huawei Mate X is the fastest 5G phone.

The smartphone will have support for 55W SuperCharge, which makes it the fastest charging phone as the company said that the Huawei Mate X could recharge from 0 to 85 percent in just 30 minutes.

When unfolded to tablet mode, the Huawei Mate 20 has an 8-inch display with a 2,480 x 2,200 pixels resolution. When folded, the device turns to be a 6.6-inch display with a 2,480 x 1,148 pixels resolution with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio.

On the other side of the phone, there is a secondary display, similar to the NEX Dual Display Edition and Nubia X, both of which feature a display as well as a camera system on the side. The Huawei Mate X is touted to deliver “best in class selfies”.

The Huawei Mate X sports a quad camera setup on the rear, but the Chinese phone maker didn’t reveal details of the camera system. However, it can be seen that there is a Leica logo near the setup. Therefore, we can expect a flagship-tier camera quality.

The Huawei Mate X is also said to be the thinnest foldable smartphone in the world with only a thickness of only 11mm when it’s folded, and 5.4mm when unfolded. However, there is still a bump on the side of the phone as some components like the camera setup still need room to properly operate.

As the phone both have a larger display and support for 5G networks, it is likely to consume more battery than usual. Hence, Huawei packs a 4,500mAh battery on the phone with a USB Type-C port on the bottom of the bump. For security, there is a side-mounted fingerprint sensor on the power button.

Huawei said to deliver the Huawei Mate X in the middle of this year for a price of €2,299 (Rs. 1,85,200) in a single colour - Interstellar Blue. The price of the device is significantly higher than the recently-released Galaxy Fold (Rs. 1,44,700), but it might be justified by the fact that the Huawei Mate X supports 5G network while the Galaxy Fold doesn’t.
