After many rumors and leaks, the Chinese giant Huawei finally announced its Huawei Nova 6 series, including Nova 6, Nova 6 5G, and Nove 6 SE. The most premium offering in the series Nova 6 5G features a hole-punch screen and Kirin 990 SoC. The vanilla Nova 6 has pretty much the same hardware specs and design, but it lacks 5G connectivity and slightly lower battery capacity. The last entry in the series is a mid-range smartphone called Nova 6 SE. The handset sports a quad-camera lens system, a 4,200 mAh battery, and a Kirin 810 SoC.
Huawei Nova 6 & Nova 6 5G: Price & Availability
The vanilla Nova 6 will be priced at RMB 3,199 (around Rs. 32,500) for the single 8GB RAM / 128GB storage. Meanwhile, the Huawei Nova 6 5G will be available for sale at RMB 3,799 (around Rs. 38,500) and RMB 4,199 (around Rs. 42,600) for the 8GB RAM / 128GB storage model & 8GB RAM / 256GB storage model, respectively.
Users in China can start pre-ordering the handset later today. They can also wait until 12 December to purchase the phone directly.
Huawei Nova 6 & Nova 6 5G: Specifications & Features
Both Huawei Nova 6 & 6 5G come with a 6.57-inch AMOLED panel with Full-HD+ resolution and a punch-hole at the top of the display to house a dual selfie camera setup. For security, they feature a fingerprint reader mounted on the side power button. Both of them are powered by a Kirin 990 chipset, but only the Nova 6 5G has a 5G modem paired with the processor.
The standard version only has a single configuration with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, while the 5G model is offered in either 8GB RAM / 128GB storage variant or 8GB RAM / 256GB model. Under the hood, the Nova 6 is packed with 4,100mAh battery, while the 5G model has a slightly larger one with 4,200 mAh capacity. Both of them support Huawei’s 40W SuperCharge technology.
At the back, they boast triple cameras, which are a 40MP primary sensor, an 8MP snapper with an ultra-wide lens, and an 8MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). For selfies, it packs a 32MP primary snapper and an 8MP ultra-wide camera, both of which are housed in an oval cut-out on top of the display. The Huawei Nova 6 & 6 5G's selfie cameras are rated with 100 points in the DxOMark test, helping the phone become the best selfie smartphone in the DxOMark ranking. Software-wise, they both run on EMUI 10 out of the box, which is based on Android 10.
