Answering this question, a computer engineer named Predrag Vasić recounted the relationship between Steve Jobs and Eric Schmidt, former Google CEO.

Apple launched the iPhone running the iOS operating system in January 2007. At that time, Eric Schmidt had just taken the position as Google CEO and a member of Apple's Board of Directors. Steve Jobs and Eric Schmidt have a very good relationship with each other.

When Android was released a year and a half later, Steve Jobs said that Google's mobile operating system was a completely iOS replication product. He considered Eric Schmidt to be a traitor and decided to put all his strength on destroying Android.

As a member of the Apple board, Eric Schmidt was able to see the iPhone prototypes before the product was officially announced. Google CEO immediately saw the potential of the iPhone and guided the Android development team to build an operating system that looks and works like iOS.

During a meeting at a cafe shop in Palo Alto later, Steve Jobs did not want the two parties to reconcile and had strong actions such as banging the table, pointing straight at the Google’s Board of Directors.

Since then, Steve Jobs never considered working with Google if it was an Android-related cooperation project. He fought with the rival mobile OS in the market by optimizing the experience on iOS to seek customer satisfaction.

Today, although Android is the most popular operating system in the world, iOS is always appreciated for quality, especially when considering important factors such as security, interface, and consistency.
