A new patent suggests that Google’s next smartphone, the Pixel 4, will ditch the notched display but still keep a single camera on the phone’s back. A few days ago, the Pixel series maker filed a new patent to WIPO, aka the World Intellectual Property Organization. It seems that the company is heading to Google Pixel 4, expected to come out this year.
As can be seen from the patent, which was first spotted by 91mobiles, Google Pixel 4 is likely to feature a full-screen display and one rear camera. Unlike the Pixel 3 XL, the patent shows almost no bezels or thick bottom chin on this handset device.
The phone’s back sports a design that is a lot like the Google Pixel 2 XL with two colors. In addition, it is likely that the phone will have a single rear camera along with a LED flash. Google’s design includes a physical fingerprint scanner too.
On the right of the phone, there is the volume rocker and the power button while lying on the left is the SIM tray. Regarding other specs of the device, the patent showcases a USB C port as well as two microphones. According to the sketches, there will be a 3.5-millimeter headphone jack on the phone, which is similar to the Pixel 2 and Pixel 3 phone series.
Currently, we can only say that the patent may be applied to the Google Pixel 4 or Google Pixel 4 XL provided that it displays a lot of similar specs to its successors – Pixel 3 and 3 XL.
Additionally, there’s no telling whether the front design is full-screen or punched-hole. And apparently, we cannot spot anything that hints a sliding camera mechanism either.
Previously, when Google launched the Google Pixel 3 and Google Pixel 3 XL, the pair excels for their excellent cameras that provide spectacular photos. However, they ran into problems related to software that drove some users crazy. Hopefully, the company will manage to fix all those problems on its upcoming flagships.
